New pieces by the award-winning artists at the 20 Esplugues Ceramics Biennial

Dones i Museus

The Esplugues Museums are once again bringing together the award-winning artists at the 20th Angelina Alós Esplugues Ceramics Biennial in a new group exhibition hosted by the Association of Ceramists of Catalonia.

Artists Natalia Castañeda, Anne Laure Cano and Núria Gimbernat present their new creations while the three pieces awarded in the 2021 Esplugues competition will also be on display.

It is a diverse group show, a small taster of the latest trends in signature ceramics and a chance to explore the artists’ creative evolution.

The opening ceremony is to take place at 7 pm on Tuesday 25 October at the headquarters of the Association of Ceramists of Catalonia. The 20th Angelina Alós Esplugues Ceramics Biennial catalogue, which includes all the shortlisted and winning pieces, will be unveiled at the event.

The partnership between Esplugues de Llobregat Town Council, the Association of Ceramists of Catalonia and the Esplugues Museums is furnishing the winning artists with a fresh opportunity to put on show some of the work they have done over the last year to the general public.

Natàlia Castañeda, a Colombian ceramist based in Barcelona, presents the composition Ellas han visto demasiado (They Have Seen Too Much). Yet again the South American artist pushes the envelope and creates her own exhibition space in which she combines furniture and ceramics.

Meanwhile, French artist Anne Laure Cano, who also lives in Barcelona, exhibits a series of three new creations in which she shares how she has found her feet in the city since moving there just over a year ago.

Finally, Núria Gimbernat from Girona shows L’hora blava (The Blue Hour), an ensemble of three pieces in stoneware on a glass base. The artist, who won the audience choice award in January this year, is continuing her creative line which blends fragility and strength, fashioning a visual play of blue tones and transparencies.

The exhibition additionally features the three winning pieces from the 20th Angelina Alós Esplugues Ceramics Biennial.

  • Natalia Castañeda. City of Esplugues Award
  • The Time is Out of Joint. Olga Simonova. Angelina Alós Award
  • Replis 2. Anne Laue Cano, Pujol i Bausis Award.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge until 30 November, Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 5 to 8.30 pm at the Association of Ceramists of Catalonia (c. Doctor Dou, 6, Barcelona).
